A notable performer for trainer Peter Moody over the 2014 racing calendar so far, Cadillac Mountain has opened as and maintained status as outright favourite in Werribee Cup betting markets and is currently available at a quote of $3.70, ahead of Khutulun ($4.60), Rainbow Storm ($7.50) and Bring Back ($8) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Will Cadillac Mountain justify favouritism and win the 2014 Werribee Cup, or will one of his classy rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Khutulun ($4.60)

Securing a commendable race record of four wins and a further two minor places from her ten competitive starts so far, Khutulun will leave from the ideal barrier 5, will be partnered by in-form jockey Ben Melham and is more than a chance of success in the 2014 Werribee Cup. Charging home to take out the Askin FM 3.y.o+ (1300m) first-up this time, the Soldier’s Tale mare ran a credible fifth amongst classy competition in a minor over 1400m on October 12th before returning to the winner’s circle in the Hygain 3.y.o+ (1600m) on October 23rd. While unlucky to be blocked for a run and seventh in her most recent appearance at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day, Khutulun offers punters exceptional value for money at current odds and is worth consideration for a Werribee Cup bet.

2nd

Cadillac Mountain ($3.70)

Claiming two wins and as many minor places over his 12 appearances at the races to date, Cadillac Mountain secured an impressive race win at Sandown first-up this year before placing a close second to Pheidon in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) on March 14th. Running mid-pack in each of the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m), the Reset gelding has steadily built to the task this time in, highlighted by an impressive fifth in the Listed Headquarters Tavern Stakes (1400m) on October 4th. Thrilled with the form and class displayed by Cadillac Mountain in the lead-up to the Werribee Cup, Peter Moody is confident jockey Chad Schofield will get the best from his runner this afternoon.

3rd

Bells Of Troy ($13)

Returning to racing in great form since joining the stables of trainer Jackson Pallot at the beginning of the season, Bells Of Troy is likely to receive the run of the race from barrier 6 this afternoon and arguably offers punters the best value for money in Werribee Cup betting markets at current $13 for success or $4.20 to finish in the first three. Running seventh in a minor over 1800m first-up on September 28th, the Clangalang mare charged home to win the Lakes Entrance Bowls Club BM70 (2200m) on October 20th before placing a credible fifth in the Secondbite Plate (2000m) last time out.
